I'm...not happy. I'm...in disbelief. I'm...disgusted...and most of all...horrified. Tonight...my life almost ended thanks to 2 blasted idiots...
My day started out the same, me going to work at the supermarket and helping out with the needs of customers. Nothing of major incidents, except for the escalator going downstairs going on the fritz, but the repairmen got it working again...but that wasn't it. It was when I was going home...that I became...horrified.
You all watch the news right, about how a rash sets of bikers getting hit by cars? Well, I ride my bike to and from work since I don't like riding the bus all that much. I usually ride close to the street sometimes, but am always aware of the flow of traffic. But of all places...ugh...
Nearly 30 minutes prior to this journal, I was about a quarter away from home, and I rode through a calm neighborhood, by a police sub-station, when it happened. I was riding in the street, close by the sidewalk when I saw this car coming my way from the opposite direction. Nothing unusual, then this other car was traveling fast passing the other slower car. I decide to get out of the way since the street wasn't that big. Then..in my disbelief...the slower car sped up, then I really got out of the way, missing the other car. I stop my bike and look back...and quickly realize they were drag racing. I could not believe my eyes. Then...in horror...a third car, which was traveling pass the intersection, came in the path of the 2 other cars. They wound up colliding and...I couldn't tell which car it was, but one of them slammed into a tree and caught fire.
I don't know if anyone survived the crash since I was a bit further up the street, but luckily the police were there to try and put out the fire...and by sheer coincidence it occurred right by the police sub-station. The realization of me almost getting hit by 2 idiotic people racing some dog gone muscle car in a quiet neighborhood is in disbelief...but the realization of witnessing a crash like that and not knowing if the crash victim was the innocent motorist is a whole other thing. Right now as I type this...questions race across my head. I could have been another victim of a hit-n-run...and just because some idiot wanted to race some other idiot in a quiet neighborhood. I truly hope no one died, but that realization...god...I...I just don't know what to think...
